About us
The Bilingual Brain is a student-founded initiative dedicated to promoting brain health, education, and advocacy for bilingual individuals and their families—especially in communities affected by dementia and Alzheimer's. We believe language is more than communication—it's memory, identity, and culture. Our goal is to preserve that.
Founded in 2025 by Amanda Vazquez, a neuroscience student and bilingual Cuban-American passionate about neurology and geriatric care, The Bilingual Brain started as a research project exploring the connection between bilingualism and memory preservation. It has since grown into an advocacy platform that bridges science with lived experience.

Our Mission
Why It Matters
To educate, support, and empower bilingual communities in the fight against cognitive decline, through culturally mindful resources, science-backed tools, and meaningful human connection. How do we do this?
- Create accessible cognitive health tools for bilingual and underserved populations.
- Support caregivers through multilingual handouts, activity kits, and communication tips.
- Promote early awareness and prevention of Alzheimer's and related dementias.
- Advocate for equity in healthcare and research for Hispanic and multilingual families.
- Foster intergenerational connection through storytelling, language, and love.
Many families, especially in Hispanic and immigrant communities, face unique challenges navigating aging, memory loss, and healthcare—often without the resources or recognition they deserve. At The Bilingual Brain, we aim to fill that gap with compassion, science, and bilingual solidarity.
